About
Welcome to my food review of Antojitos del Perú, an exquisite gem nestled in Lenexa, Kansas. Located at 7809 Quivira Rd, this restaurant offers a vibrant taste of Peruvian culture that leaves a lasting impression. Known for its diverse menu and authentic flavors, Antojitos del Perú has quickly become a beloved destination for food lovers, both locals and visitors alike.
As you step into the establishment, you're greeted by a lively ambiance that reflects the rich heritage of Peru. The walls are adorned with traditional decor, creating an inviting atmosphere perfect for enjoying a meal with friends or family. The positive energy is palpable, and it's evident that this place has carved out a niche for itself within the Kansas City culinary scene.
Customer reviews reveal a deep appreciation for the dishes served here. One standout is the Ceviche Mixto, frequently praised for its freshness and vibrant flavors. Frank Arnwine, a satisfied regular, raves about his lunch experience, stating that the ceviche is simply "awesome." Another first-time visitor, Tony Trinh, described the ceviche as a delightful introduction to Peruvian cuisine, alongside the delicious Beef Empanadas. The purple corn drink, a semi-sweet cinnamon tea, also intrigued him, showcasing the thoughtful beverage selections at the restaurant.
Beyond the ceviche, Antojitos del Perú offers a plethora of delightful options. The Chorrita a la chalaca, featuring mussels with big corn and a zesty salsa, has been lauded by diners for its bold flavors. Meanwhile, the Papa Rellena, a stuffed potato, reflects the culinary creativity that permeates the menu. It's clear from Michael Robinette's family dining experience that every dish, from the airepuerto de carne to the tallarines verdes con bistec, brings an exciting twist that showcases Peru’s diverse culinary landscape.
While some diners have noted that service can be slower during busy times, such as Mother’s Day, the dedication to quality food shines through. David B also emphasized the allure of having this unique Peruvian dining option in the KC area, revealing that even a packed house cannot overshadow the excellence of the dishes served.
Antojitos del Perú invites you to explore a new world of flavors, where each dish tells a story. Whether you're a seasoned fan of Peruvian cuisine or a curious first-timer, your culinary journey here will be nothing short of delightful. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to indulge in authentic, flavorful dishes that truly celebrate the essence of Peru.
“ Update: Visited for lunch. Have been coming here for several years, less during Covid pandemic. Added a star. Excellent lunch. Ceviche mixto still awesome! Did try a couple new appetizers, the Chorrita a la chalaca (muscles with the big corn and salsa with ceviche lime juice) and the Papa Rellano. Both good, but the muscles were best. Will keep coming, still alot of dishes I have not tried. 3 yrs ago: Have been here a few times for lunch, and again yesterday. Had Ceviche Mixto (again) and empanada. Their ceviche is an excellent dish! Empanada great too. They have a very unique and diverse menu, great ambiance, and I love the food! Prices slightly above average for lunch and better for dinner. I highly recomnend Antojitos and I look forward to visiting for dinner. ”
“ First time eating Peruvian food, and they did not disappoint! So good! I had the Ceviche Mixto and Beef Empanadas (my favorite). Also tried the purple corn drink, which tasted like a semi-sweet cinnamon tea. I can't wait to come back to try other dishes. ”
“ I recommend it if you've never had peruvian food(Peru is known for having the best South American food scene). Nice selection, especially considering they are in the middle of the US. ”
“ We came to love Peruvian food several years ago when we lived in DC, so we were excited to try Antojitos del Peru. I got the aeropuerto de carne, my wife got the aeropuerto de pollo, my daughter got the Milanesa de pollo, and my son got the tallarines verdes con bistec. Both of the aeropuerto dishes were excellent, my daughter's chicken was delicious, but, man, my son picked right--his was absolutely amazing. The service was slow, but it was a Sunday (and Mother's Day) and the place was packed, so it was understandable. Overall, we're definitely going back. ”
“ It was very busy on Mother's Day when we went, so service was slower than usual. The food was great as always. It is nice that the KC area has this restaurant as an option. ”
“ The food and the service was excellent! This was such a nice experience compared to the usual fast food restaurants. The Peruvian cuisine is just on another level, you have to give it a try you won’t regret it. ”
“ Diverse menu. Reasonable prices. Great tasting food. Excellent service. ”
“ Very busy and short staffed so we had a bit of a.wait to order but it was so worth it! Ceviche mixto and pisco sours were so good! Definately going back! ”
